I think its excellent to learn songs from bands. You learn how to apply tecniques and execute them in time and properly. it's practice!

Especially for those self-taught musicians... playing along to CDs is a poor man's version of taking lessons.

never have, never will. main band atm is about a mix between eyehategod and necrophagist. more doom metal-inspired riffage then tech-death-metal but theres definite influence.

Laid to Rest is just a rip off of Into The Pit by Testament. You're not a badass for playing/liking Lamb of God.

THANK YOU! I've been saying they ripped Testament off in that song for so long, and nobody seems to agree!!
And Lamb of God, while they had a few cool songs, are boring as shit.

I'll be honest, I thought As The Palaces Burn was a pretty badass album. However, Ashes of the Wake I thought sucked both in production and overall music. What I've heard of their latest cd is even worse than Ashes of the Wake.

yes, testament definitely influences lamb of god. the new LoG will rule.

Influences? Lamb of God just sound like they're actually
trying to rip off Slayer and Testament riffs
From what I've heard of their new album, it's pretty gay. They're not doing anything new that's interesting. I didn't hear a single memorable riff.

Where's that picture of a check written out to Eric Peterson and Alex Skolnick from the guys in LoG paying them royalities for the riffs they stole

im a huge LOG fan. they started as a death/groove thing and then evolved into a thrash metal tribute. im afraid they hit their prime with Palaces.
it's not like Testament was a totally original band in the day. how about Testament writes a check to Metallica.

LOG has never been death metal in any way, shape, or form.
And Testament > Metallica

I havn't completed the tabs bro, sorry bout that. I keep 2 rough copy's of both songs that I keep in my laptop when I'm figuring out songs by ear, so that I don't forget em later. (i just write down the trickier riffs and licks so that i dont forget em later on) I am planning on making a good copy of somnam for this weekend though, I'll keep you posted.
