Let's see, the company has been around for 57 years, have had the most successful product lines with the P and J basses, artists such as Jaco Pastorius, Steve Harris, Geddy Lee, Stu Hamm, Victor Baily and Marcus Miller use them...seems to me they have a pretty good track record.
You just can't teach kids shit anymore, your right go buy yourself a BC Rich Warlock or Jackson Kelly because they look cool, I prefer sound and quality. Oh, and I also have owned a Gibson T-bird, Warwick Thumb bass, 2 Spectors, a Tobias Killer B and 3 Ibanez's, and none of them have had the sound, tone or playability as a USA made Fender.
I'm sure I can get an amen from PFloyd on this.

damnit! i can'r post a topic, i must post twenty replies first.
I'd like to ask you a question (i hope you will understand my bad english). When a band plays a cover but the guitarist can't play the solo of that cover, what should the band do? she doesn't play that cover. she simplifie that solo. she play that cover without her solo.

I guess if you knew anything about basses, I assumed you might by your screen name, they are far from being the same.BassPhemy wrote:4 of the exact same bass. What a good idea.
2 of them are Jazz basses, and 1 is a 5 string, and the other 2 are P basses which are a completely different tone/sound than the Jazz's.
The black one I have tuned in C, the red one in E standard (I do open mic night jams with it) the black jazz is in E flat & Drop D flat (what my band plays in) and the 5 string in B flat. They all have unique tones and feel to them.
I guess in retrospect...your just jealous because you currently own a head with no cab or bass and I can pick and choose between 2 amps and 6 basses.

Fender basses feel and look great. I don't have one, I have a Schecter, but when I bought it I was choosing between that and a P-Bass.
I personally think that Fender's guitars are harder to play than other brands. I've seen alot of dudes shred on their fast easy Gibsons and then they sound like shit on a Fender. I don't like Strats/Telecasters that much, but I respect dudes who can play them well. Maybe it's just me.

Did your jazz come with Badass II bridge or did you put that on yourself?Pfl?yd wrote:Fuck yeah. My Jazz is about the only thing I play anymore.
All mine are string through body except the red P bass, which I put a badass II on that.

I swapped it out as soon as I got the bass. I had one laying around and it improved the tone even moreso. I can thump the low E string with my thumb and it just rings forever.PABassPlayer wrote:Did your jazz come with Badass II bridge or did you put that on yourself?Pfl?yd wrote:Fuck yeah. I'm not a Fender junkie--i like lots of different instruments--but it's definitely my most versatile and comfortable bass.
Conversely, I don't like P-basses at all. They have a decent sound but I hate the necks on them.

I don't like the string spacing. They have the same necks as String Rays too. I'm not playing slap-and-pop so I don't need half-a-foot of space between each string. They're also pretty stock-sounding. Can't really tweak the tone of them much.Brandon wrote:so you agree about the pbass neck? damn right
On the rare occasions I'm called on to slap something, I do just fine on a Jazz.
That acoustic-electric bass I have has a monster baseball bat neck too. Thankfully I don't play that thing more than once a month or so.

I'll agree that my Jazz bass neck is more comfortable and faster, but I have been playing my 5 string alot more, so I'm getting used to the P bass girth. As far as the sound, I like the crisp sound of the P, and when doing certain covers, I can get a more authentic sound. ie: The Trooper, Sober, Flying High Again and Crazy Train. The Jazz just doesn't cut through the mix as well in those songs.

I played an old Telecaster last night, the neck was amazing....don't know much about it's tonal capabilities since I didn't plug it into anything, but acoustically it was very bright and audible.
Edit: By "audible" I mean it was very clean, I could hear every note clearly.

I love the sound of a Tele through a tweed amp with just a little bit of grit. Of course, if I ever buy another guitar, I'm getting something like an ES-335. They sound smooth as butter.
