Phil Is Not Racist
Phil Is Not Racist
i'v been hearing a lot of shit latley (not on this site) that phil is a racist cunt, i thought that shit had died down a few weeks after he said that white pride stuff in other words a long time ago? either way he is not a fucking racist. I apsolutly hate the cunt its MY OPINION that he was the one who brought PANTERA to an end or atleast 90% responsible wether or not its his fault i still never liked his atitude but to say he's racist is unfair he isnt and this thread aint about likin him or weather it was his fault 4 the break sum1 else make another thread bout it n i'll b sure 2 post there but leave the shit about that outa this 1
If you listen to the speach he made that show he starts of with "i have friends of all different colors and races...", im not sure if this is true but i even heard that at the time he had a black girlfriend, followed by "...it is my belief if you conduct yourself like a human being you outa be treated like one..." does this not mean he is referning to his dislike of peoples actions rather then race? that he's angry with a group of dipshits who also happen to be black but not as being reason for the anger?
Was he not just making a speech about how he couldnt understand why white kids today bought music and supported black artist who where racist against white people?
To be racist is to judge and treat all people on the basis of color of there skin or ethnicity but phill was judging a portion of the black demographic (not everysingle person on this earth with black skin) on there actions against whites. How is that racist?
Lastly yes he said had a go at people for wearing shirts that said "its a black day...you wouldnt understand" and saying thats racist to white people. So what it fucking is all he was doing was stating a fact. and yes he did say he was white and proud and made many pro white statements but pro white dose NOT mean anti black or anti hispanic or any other fucking race.
so yeah i realy cant understand why people are calling him racist just thought i'd ask your opinion so yeah what do you guys reckon?

The lyrics in the song, 'Rock the World' suggest otherwise.
The power grows
To destroy
This flag of hate
That waves so
High in the air
We raise our fists
In rebellion we stand
Our hungry hearts
Set the snare
In other words, the band were trying to break down barriers of predjudice with their power metal music. I don't know what input Phil had as regards the song's lyrics, but they were sung with great passion on the PM record.
I think this is a song heavy metal listeners should consider as an anthem of unity and strength. It's admirible that a heavy metal band had the courage to tackle this subject in their songs, similar to Anthrax's 'Who Cares wins'.
So there you go. Not racist, but rather quite the reverse!

even so, I think "rise", "heresy", and "no good (attack the radical" sound pretty anti-racist, just to name 3.walking_ash wrote:That was long before Phil joined the fucking band.seriousheavymetaller wrote:The lyrics in the song, 'Rock the World' suggest otherwise.

No it wasn't. Phil was in the band then. He joined in 1987, PM was released in '88.walking_ash wrote:That was long before Phil joined the fucking band.seriousheavymetaller wrote:The lyrics in the song, 'Rock the World' suggest otherwise.

But, if the lyrics offended his beliefs and sensibilities towards the subject, then he would probably have refused to sing them for the album and on stage.dead forever wrote:The lyrics on the Power Metal album were not penned by Anselmo.
Also, take into account the three songs mentioned by HoustonKJ.
