Based on an article I read in the LA Times this morning I would say that you're correct. He was earning $4.5 million a year. This is going to free up a lot of money to hopefully get a couple other good players. I really liked him as a player and wish he would stay.

Rumour alert! Supposedly Chris Pronger got a beat reporter in Edmonton pregnant, and she told him halfway through the season. And also supposedly, that's why his wife wants him out of the city. My brother sent my sister this quote from somewhere, and she sent it to me. Total rumour, probably from a message board, but hey...gossip is good.

"Well, the reason Pronger's wife wants to leave Edmonton is not because she hates the city or the people. Apparently Pronger got a female beat reporter who covers the oilers pregnant. Christy Chorley is her name, and she told Prongs half way through the season. This is why it would be difficult for the Pronger family to settle down in edmonton."

As my brother said, they didn't really have to specify that she was female. I think we get that from the "got her pregnant" part.

cuban would be good for the game, although he would never show up since the NBA and NHL seasons coincide. I doubt he'll do it though, he said not too long ago that he's thought about it but his wife would divorce him if he bought another team.
