Pedalboards + general effects questions

Ok, so I've basically been getting back into playing guitar the past few months, and I'm starting up a band. I have a few guitar pedals, but I stopped using them because it's annoying to set them up, plus I lost this daisy chain setup thing I used to power my pedals. I have a boss compression/sustainer, ibanez chorus/flanger (i got this when I was 16, I didn't really know any better haha), a cry baby, and I'm going to pick up a boss noise suppressor (the compression effect gives off a shitload of feedback, but I want to use it for a smoother/crunchier sound I suppose). I'm also debating if I should get an EQ pedal, so I was wondering if it was worth it too (along with any other pedal I'm overlooking).

Anyways, I was looking at this pedalboard http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ ... sku=151432 so I could have everything set up easier. I was just wondering if this is worth getting, or if there's another alternative because to be honest, I don't know shit about equipment or anything. Thanks in advance.

An eq pedal will give you many more options with your tone, especially using one before distortion. One of the most overlooked tricks in the book now if you ask me.

The pedal board should do you good untill you fill it up, or want to get a better one. I've never used that one, but it looks like a decent setup.
Not sure if the wah will fit, i'm leaning towards saying it will fit though.

Also you might want to check out an MXR noise gate. The price is more pocket friendly.

I just read some reveiws, and many had problems with fitting a crybaby.
They said things like "the crybaby had to be on to close the board" and something along the terms of the crybaby being to high and snapped the lock.

If you end up buying the bose you will need to take off the rubber feet off the bottom of the crybaby, and it will probably work like a charm.

yeah, I was reading that the wahs don't fit normally, but you can cut out the foam to make it fit. I mean, I guess this isn't my only option for pedal boards either but this just seems cheap and convenient (and plese let me know if you know of anything good I should look into). Plus if i need to I can just set up the wah outside of the pedal board.

And did you mean this mxr pedal? http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ ... sku=151112 That was the cheapest one I found, and it's actually costs $20 more than the boss pedal I was looking at.

I was looking at this for EQ also: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ ... sku=151325 They have a cheaper one with a 7 band EQ for $20 cheaper, but it's not programmable, and i figure spending $20 extra bucks for something better should be worth it.

Just build your own with a power strip. I had like a dozen effects at one time and I made a ghetto one with those wire shelves people put up in their basement. Traditional pedalboards made by people like Boss tend to favor their effects pedals and not others.

I have all the adapters for my pedals because batteries are expensive. I assumed most people had them.

I can't even fucking find a 9V AC Adapter around here anywhere, I'm thinking about just buying a cheapass phone and using the one that comes with it.

Just go to radio shack or best buy. I've bought a couple there for a decent price.

You should probably just ask someone that works there. I'm almost positive radioshack should have those adapters too.

Anyways, you were probably wondering "I wonder what Lando Griffin ever did to resolve his pedalboard problems?". Well, today's you're lucky day! I ended up buying this pedalboard http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ ... sku=544735 . I mean, of course I could have saved money by building my own pedalboard, but I feel it was worth getting this. Can power 8 pedals at a time, plus has 3 plugs so you can plug in 3 more pedals on top of that. I dunno, it just makes sense to me and makes everything easier, plus it's a hardcase so it keeps everything protected. I also bought the boss noise suppressor and it seems to work very well, and will probably help out more when I tweak it more. Still gotta buy the boss EQ-20...guitar center didn't have it in stock so I'm gonna have a store order it up at school and trade in my ibanez pedals for store credit.

Thats cool, im going to build my own fairly simple one to fit my metalizer,eq, noise supressor, wah and digitech whammy/ multi bank power unit. I'll probably just make it out of wood with velcro attatchments. Also did you leave some space for a metronome?

Ok, so now I need help setting all this shit up.

At the moment I have a boss noise suppressor, metal zone, compression/sustainer, and the crybaby from hell. Going by the diagram that came with the noise suppressor, it says I should go from the guitar straight into the noise suppressor, then have the "send" jack go into my compressor and metal zone, have that run through to the return jack, then have the output jack go into my amp.

I was short on patch chords so I'm not able to set it up like this yet, so I had it set up as compressor -> metal zone -> noise suppressor -> wah -> amp, and it was a little noisy, but I think that could also be because I have a loose wire in my guitar. (I think it's the "ground" wire or something like that, because when I touch the volume knob the sound goes away). Also, the wah sounded kind of weird too, the volume got really soft when toe part was all the way up, and it got alot louder when it was put down.

I also have a send/return effects loop thing on my peavy special 212, so I'm not sure if that's something that's neccessary to fuck around with either. I dunno, I used to just play my gutiar straight into my amp so all this stuff is new to me, so any help would be awesome.

it's been a year since ive been in there. So i'm not sure. Radio shack will have then, but you might pay more. Ebay is a good place to look.
