as of late my hands (both picking and fretting) have seem to become weak, like there's no weight to them what so ever and makes skipping strings pretty hard to do, anyone know what it could be or what I could do to "strengthen" them back up?

why not play alot more, grip masters may help your grip but why do you need a super strong grip if you already have a strap. get strength from playing more not plastic and springs
ps play bass with your fingers not picks

Fuck the grip master , double time on the masturbation !
When I played classical I did finger stretches till I got cramps and felt the burn , repetitive scales pentatonic progressions .
....or maybe your axe has no action or the strings are to high on the frets?

That's fine. You don't have to switch for good. If I recall right, you said you had a fretless bass you don't play that much. Put some heavy gauge strings on that and practice on that. Keep your main bass with your normal string gauge.

Does anyone know how to build up string skipping easier? I guess you could call it sweeping on bass, just going up and down the strings hitting a different fret each time and maybe playing a few extra notes on some strings?

I'd say just make sure to warm before you play EVERY time. Not to mention most people sound like shit if they don't do this. Gripmasters are pretty much worthless and can actually do some damage to your wrist if used incorrectly.

Lift some weights or play an old Charvel bass with that wide ass neck.
