sweeping arps

I love these things... I just figured out how to do them about a month ago. Anyone else love em as much as me? Add that little hammeron at the end and they sound really killer.

learned it with GP4....so i didn't know the fucking song..but the solo is brutal..that string skipping tapping is fucinghard, but awesome when you pull it off...

string skipping tapping is a lot fucking easier than string skipping picking. and sea of lies is not that hard if you learn it with a metronome.

those sweeps on glass prison are really simple 'cept for how he ends the first series of sweeps, and the only "complicated" part in sea of lies is the string skipping diminished sweep/tap in the second solo.
if you're gonna show off, at least show off with something that is actually impressive..

i find string skiping while alternate picking MUCH easier than while tappign....

i hate Petrucci's lead playing. He is a three note per string pattern normally, his phrasing is shocking and his improvisation is worse. the true talent in that band is jordon rudess. Dream Theater are a good band and have some great songs, rush is obviously where they got their sound from though. listen to live a budokan and than hollow years, that's an improved solo...or beyond this live, the middle jam part is 100% jammed
and if you would WATCH the dvd..you could see it's not 3 notes per string, and his melody lines are awesome...

and he always delivers......100% flawless!
