Reinventing The Steel

Post by Kris Sabian »

THis was my first Pantera album that I bought. I didn't like it at first but it did eventually grow on me.

Two years later after buying Vulgar Display and CFH, I was even more blown away. The more I listen to those albums the less I felt like listning to RTS. I don't what was so different about this cd, whether it was phil's voice or the production of it.

Nonetheless it's still a cool album. The best tracks on there are Godamn Electric, The two last tracks and Hole in the Sky.

What are your thoughts on this album.

It's a solid album. Most albums get softer as the band goes on. This one didn't.

It took a while for RTS to grow on me, but it eventually did. You have to listen to it without comparing it to Pantera's other albums. When I first bought it, I made the mistake of comparing it too much to their prior work. It's a great collection of cool, melodic, hard-rocking grooves. It's like Vinnie said about TGSTK: if they wanted to make "Far Beyond Driven Part 2", then they would have made it AND called it just that. But they didn't want to do that. They wanted to try other stuff. I like RTS.

I like the album. I think that the fact they produced it on their own gave it a different feel that you have to get used to, but its cool that they did it on their own.

I also think that the Revolution video was lame as well as the album cover, these small factors can have an effect on people's first impressions. I think as time goes on the album will be more and more popular, Pantera fans who initially rejected it might rediscover it, after all, it is all the Pantera that we have left.

Shame on you! Dime came up with that video and I found it quite entertaining. And let's see YOU jump through some flames.

their best album as far as songs go, don't like the production that much

the best album is FBD...but in a live situation, the RTS songs rules
som en grop fylld av blinda hundar som äter sin egen avföring. en avgrund där stanken är så tät att man inte kan andas.

it's a boring album compared to the previous 4 pantera albums, but still good.

The "Reinventing The Steel" is a great album, but it's not so Panterrific like the four previous albums. But on the "RTS" I can feel some sabbath-slayerized sounds. And that is great!
