String gauge for standard c tuning...

Post by Hailblaze »

On a licensed floyd rose tremolo? I was thinking 11's but I got 9's on right now and I would appreciate any advice from anyone who has been playing that tuning recently (Ive been at e flat for what seems like forever).

if it's a nice guitar you can get away with 9s, but i would do 11s.

I'm going to order this set online, I think....I don't want to have to walk into the intimidating atmosphere of a Guitar Center. Any good sites I should look to order from?

i use http://www.stringsbymail.com/stmanudisp.asp?tCat=1 but mainly because of their nylon selection. what's cool about that place is that you can order a set of strings, and have each string be of a different brand.

i used to use those EB 10-52's but got tired of them, they just had a dull sound to me. on my electrics i only use d'addarios nowadays.

I ended up getting a couple of packs of GHS boomers 11's. The best part is after stringing em up in the floyd rose and tuning it down to C I didnt even have to adjust my springs! Apparently going from 9's tuned to E flat to 11's tuned to C the spring tension is almost identical!

those 11's might work but I would buy a separate .21 for the G string. a 17 is WAY too loose. I love eating stinky pussy for some reason.
