Speed picking exercises?

Post by Tex »

Sweep appreggios and such. Anybody have any particular exercise methods they use that could speed up my rhythm? It feels like my dickstroking hand isn't moving quite as fast as I my brain wants it to, and it sounds like a slow motion stretch of a cassette tape. Otherwise, I'm flawless in every way. :)

Get a real fucking host.

Angelfire does not allow direct linking
from offsite, non-Angelfire pages,
to files hosted on Angelfire.

www.insaneguitar.com

sweeps, shreds, rythym, alternate picking, etc.
great site

basically you just need time, patience and a metronome.
i'm horrible at practicing with a metronome. i do it once in a blue moon. i need to do it more. it really does help

Scrot, nice sounding music on your bands website. I fucking dig it even though you're a prick.

Great. Thanks for the site. I play with a metronome once in awhile, if I can't keep up with the clicks I get really frustrated like when I couldn't stay on the moving platforms in Mario 3 in the cloud world.

 i know exactly how you're feeling
basically, you have to stay at a tempo you know you can keep up at, and once that's easy, step it up a few BPM
it's a fucking pain in the ass, boring as hell and completley monotonous; but it works
i wish i could practice what i preach more often

yeah i really suggest the use of a metronome too. if you practice with it frequently it will get rid of your problem about your "dickstroking hand not going as fast as my brain wants to". metronome will get you to play cleaner and faster (if you do it right), and like kellan said pracitice it at a certain tempo and once you are sure you've mastered it, raise the tempo.
