no, the guitarist is the leader, songwriter, and brains behind Boston. for the last decade or so Boston had 2 singers at the same time. apparently the other guy had some kind of throat problem or something, and that's why they had to get a new singer. but they aren't cashing in or anything, they just haven't gotten a lot of attention until the singer died. i don't think they ever officially broke up or retired.GoddamnElectric wrote:Boston's leader just killed himself like a year ago and the band is already doing another tour.

Pearl Jam (literally) with a more charismatic frontman and pronounced leanings toward both glam and soul.
Unfortunately he died of an arm dope ritual before they could make it big and "put Seattle on the map" like they were expected to...pre-Nirvana...

Fair enough, but Brad Delp IS the "voice of Boston" in a classic sense. They never broke up or retired, but they're still going on without their classic vocalist, like AIC, The Doors, Queen, etc. They're also getting 2 new singers to replace him, so even if they did have a lot of input from other vocalists before, he leaves a huge gap to fill. Unless they just want to make it seem that way.Lord of This World wrote:no, the guitarist is the leader, songwriter, and brains behind Boston. for the last decade or so Boston had 2 singers at the same time. apparently the other guy had some kind of throat problem or something, and that's why they had to get a new singer. but they aren't cashing in or anything, they just haven't gotten a lot of attention until the singer died. i don't think they ever officially broke up or retired.GoddamnElectric wrote:Boston's leader just killed himself like a year ago and the band is already doing another tour.

im gay because i think dime is overrated? im sorry that i shattered your childhood dreams of fellating dime under the golden waterfalls of unanimous guitarist appreciation land. dime and vinnie's music without rex and phil was campy and boring. rex and phil's music (most of it) without dime and vinnie is good. the end. it's my opinion. i'm not gonna cry if you disagree.-Dimebag- wrote:I've been a fan for 10 years and actually started playing guitar 5 years ago beacause of dime. Now, stop being gay.

Where the hell have you been. Everyone knows by now Dimebag stole his licks from Pat Lachman.panther79 wrote:You Dime-haters should go troll someplace else. And interestingly its you guys who seem to be putting the most time into forums like this offering your worthless opinions. Dime's music stands on its own merit.
Get a fucking life you ingrates.

Yeah yeah and Pantera stole their sound from Exhorder and it was Mustaine and Hetfiled who pioneered it before that blah blah blah etc etc.
Its amusing when people who appear to know next to nothing about the technical understanding of music comment on who stole whos shit.
Youre a fucking joke my friend.

Ok im pretty sure i know where youre coming from based on that statement. Coz if you really felt that way id have no choice but to classify you as a dry, unappreciative and talentless hack with no hope of rehabilitation.walnut wrote:I have some awesome mp3s of Cemetery Gates, The Sleep, 10s and Floods with all of the stupid, annoying guitar solos cut out of them. On the other hand if youre simply expressing an extreme case of sarcasm to fool with the heads of kids jumping on the Dime-wagon then that i can understand. Some people did the same thing when Cobain died. But why not look at it this way. If you didnt know someones music until they died in some infamous spectacular way and came to really love and appreciate them posthumously by discovering their music, whats so wrong with that?

Bull-fucking-shit. Even IF that were true, discovering a new trend in music and taking it to its height is an unteachable talent in itself. Exhorder blamed Pantera for stealing its sound because they never made it as big as the Abbots. And do you think if Lachman thought Dime stole his licks hed have so much love and respect for the guy? Your ignorance is astounding.walking_ash wrote: I said Pat Lachman. Who in turn stole his sound from Death, who stole their sound from Exhorder.
There were lots of Impressionists on the forefront of a new style of painting but it was Monet who carried it to a triumphant consummation. Nobody ever accuses him of plagiarizing from his contemporaries. Get the picture?

And Pat Lachman secretly hated Dimebag. When Damageplan formed in 1997, the band was scheduled to appear at the Walk Tour, also featuring Fallout Boy, Avenged Sevenfold, Godsmack, and Xiquets De Banyoles, among others. Basically these bands were just going to cover "Walk" for a few hours. Upon hearing this, Phil Anselmo sent Pat Lachman a text message (they both used Verizon) stating he would beat the crap out of Pat if he dared cover a Pantera song. This had crushed Pat's spirits, as his entire life had led up to this moment, and he was looking forward to finally reach his goal of singing "Walk" to a live audience. Since no one likes getting knuckle-raped by Phil, Pat conceded and left the concert in tears. Even though Dime had nothing to do with Phil's threat, Pat resented him for it.

It was an analogy you douche. The principle behind it is the same, or havent you learned about analogies in school yet.walking_ash wrote: You, sir, are the idiot! Dimebag never painted!

Nothing of what you said has anything to do with Dime stealing Pats licks. Either way, if Pat himself felt that he did, do you think Pat would be in Damageplan? If he truly felt this way and secretly hated Dime but joined Damageplan anyway then hes a sad little man who sold himself out (which isnt the case since youre just talking a whole bunch of bullshit).
And whatever happened there between Phil and Pat, Pat did cover Walk at Download so it musnt have scared him all that much for long huh?
