The Mars Volta

So I drove down to Kansas City last night to check out this show. I was right on the side of the stage so I got to see everything and it was cool watching them in a club setting. Unfortunately, the sound at the club fucking sucked no matter where you stood so all the subtlety was lost. Being the sax player or the hand percussionist must be a pretty shitty job because no one fucking hears you at all.

So it was cool to watch, not so cool to hear. They need to move to bigger venues or just play in my living room or something.
Izzy: do you realize how broad "environmental science" is?
Izzy: it's like going to school for history
Izzy: well, more useful than that
Izzy: but an expert on the civil war won't know jackshit on uhh
Izzy: something that isnt the civil war

They were one of the main bands I wanted to see at Bonnaroo in '05. They played around midnight-ish and I actually made it to their set in a drunken stupor. I passed out during soundcheck apparently and my girlfriend at the time had to drag my lifeless body back to our tent. Bad times. I stayed sober the whole time last year and had a way better experience

Sorry to hear that Pfloyd. I've seen them twice and both sets were amongst the best I've seen. I'll be seeing them again in March
