Talkin bout Gear.

Post by ANTHRAX_STOMP »

Hey All,
Been floating around here for a while reading posts. Thought it time I registered and do some of my own posting.
Been playing guitar about a year now. Lately Ive become interested in tone and wanna start to dick around with the way I sound.
I play a Jackson RR3, I think its made out of Alder. Anyways, Im searching for a pretty brutal metal tone. I need advice on amps, pickups and anything else. I like my sound to be fairly rich in mids. My fave guitar tones are Scott Ian (Anthrax) and Slayer. I dont really like EMGs, to me they dont sound 'organic' enough if u understand what Im talking about. I also want an amp that I can practise with without reducing my neighbours to tears. Price range on the amp would be about middle range. Thinking about Seymour Duncans and a Peavy XXL 50w combo, maybe. What do you guys think would be killer.[/u]

middle range? Give us a figure to work with or else you're not going to get very far.

Alright...
Lets say up to $800 US for an amp. I might go higher, might depend on what u guys think.
Pickups.. any price.
Also, what about Equalizers and stuff? Are they handy to have?
