What for a combo?

I've recently sold my crate fx 2x12 combo and am looking for a different one. Preferably one that has a much better gain... that gain crapped out in the solo channel after 4. Anyone have any good recommendations other than marshal, crate, or line 6?

I have liked Line 6's combos. Marshall makes combos but I don't know much about their sound. Are you playing just in your room? Do you need your amp for gigging? Are you recording with it? How much power do you need?

My guitarist plays through a Mesa 2x12 combo and it is INSANELY loud. I'm not sure of the model but he has had it for awhile.

Avoid any more Crate amps, though. They suck.

It's just for my room. I have a rack and a few cabs in my basement for gigging. Just a 1x12 combo will do. One with good gain and clean channel that can drive a bit of power at slightly higher volumes. Sometimes I bring it over to a couple friends house for quick portability within jamming.

The other guitarist in my band has a mesa nomad, a 50watt 1 x 12. He has been having reliability problems with it but it's old, and the high gain sound is great.

I don't need an amp since I discovered Guitar Rig... but I don't play in bands.

Get a good pedalboard and a cheap 200W PA rig.

Line 6 is a big "meh" for me. I neither love nor hate them. If someone gave me one I wouldn't complain, but I definitely wouldn't buy one myself.

I don't know, personally if I ever have to play live for the projects I'm currently working on... I'll go through my laptop into Guitar Rig and use the outs on my audio interface to D.I.

Amps feel restrictive to me...

I love my Vox Valvetronix. I got it years ago, probably 2001-2002 or so. They have newer models of them but I'm not sure what the differences are between them. It's quite powerful. I've never had the volume up more than halfway. It's great for gigging and playing at home.

I've been looking at Orange amps lately as well. I've never used any of their combos though.

I use to have a standalone nomad head. The one with the built in eq. Thing was shite!

I practice through a Peavey Bandit transtube.. it sounds great for practice... I ran a sonic maximizer through the efx loop and it it sounded good enough to record if I wanted to
