Yeah, thats why Fender P's have been around for 58 years and are the #1 sold/used basses. Hektik, I respect you as a musician and all, but you need a few more years/basses under your belt before making statements like that.hektik wrote:good lord, fender makes the ugliest fucking basses ever and they all sound terrible.

I've played a lot of basses and never liked fenders. Maybe they haven't been set up for the type of music I enjoy playing, but I just can't get a feel for them. Don't like the necks on them at all, the tone is alright but I'll stick to my SpectorPABassPlayer wrote:Yeah, thats why Fender P's have been around for 58 years and are the #1 sold/used basses. If you go back in time, fenders have many styles of necks and pick ups to meet most needs...(you're not going to get a warwick sound from a fender P). Alot of people bust my balls because I have 5 P basses, but each one has different wood/pick ups/set ups and all give me different tones for different music.hektik wrote:I've played a lot of basses and never liked fenders. I love Fender J's. I only have ever had a handful of times where I really could have used a P for anything.
I'll stick with my Bongo though.

boring? Seems that would be determined by who's playing them.hektik wrote:boring basses, bro.
And I have owned 2 Spectors, they are "one trick ponys" One sound, One Tone.

What models? I have an NS2000/4 neckthru and I love it. It can get a deep, thick tone with punch mids and twangy highs...I have mine sounded rather gritty, combined with the fret clack (due to super low action, and I don't mind the clack either), it sounds like a fucking beast.PABassPlayer wrote:boring? I also got a Peavey Grindbass BXP from a few years back which I defretted, I've yet to put the output jack back in it...I took it out a few years back to put it in my BC Rich Warlock, which I wound up splitting in half...
Having that many p-basses just seems redundant to me, whatever sinks yer ship bra.

I guess it's kind of a moot arguement, it's really all about preference. I've owned alot of basses and my first US P was the fit, feel and sound that works for how and what I play. I know you play alot of grind/death/heavy metal stuff and I'm sure the Spector fits that bill nicely. I'm playing alot of mainstream and classic rock and the P bass fits that perfectly. As far as having alot of them...I like buying basses, and I'm going to buy ones that I'm going to play...so, naturally they are all going to be similar to what I like.PABassPlayer wrote:If you go back in time, fenders have many styles of necks and pick ups to meet most needs...(you're not going to get a warwick sound from a fender P). Like I said, all respect to you as a musician, we just come from 2 different schools of music.
