I like bands that are so cool they have to face away from the audience. I wonder if that vocalist has ever heard of "tempo".
:fu: whatever, it's much better than most other shit out today.

... WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO FIND A BAND THAT SOUNDS LIKE PANTERA?! are you people idiots? if there was a band that sounded even REMOTELY like panter, which there isn't, they should have spike driven through their heads. you dont copy other peoples sound, that makes you a tool, and screw ax7, and any other band that has been listed on this topic, even if they did sound anything like pantera(which they don't), it still wouldnt BE pantera. thats it, done, stop talking. idiots.

btw ax7 sounds nothing like pantera, not even remotely.. just because they play a fast guitar doesnt mean crap.

ive been on a quest to find bands like pantera...but everything falls miserably short.

Myspace is a good source. I usually look at bands in the southern states, they seem to have the right idea.

Closest thing i can get is Teabag, Entombed, and LOG....and even they are not even close.

Its kinda annoying adoring a 1-of-a-kind band :)

I bought their 'City Of Evil' album not expecting anything spectacular, but have to say I was surprised at the quality of songwriting. It's an epic at 72 minutes, but still an impressive collection of 11 songs varying from good to excellent.

I realise they're not regarded as true heavy metal music alongside the likes of ManOwar, Pantera and Anthrax, but most of the posters here I've noticed tend to criticise their cover of 'Walk' and dismiss them as posers, and walk away with a smug emoticon on their e-faces. They do actually have some good tunes and a lot of traditional metal influences in their music.

You will be dissapointed if you expect them to sound similar to Pantera. I would describe their current musical style as a mixture of 80's metal and modern power metal with a slight punk influence and also a nod to Guns 'N Roses.

there will never be another pantera

the next band to take hold of the masses and avoid the commercial muppetry will be LOG, but with sound unlike that of pantera.

Like it or not, theyve already got a foot in the door :fu:

For my sake, i hope they dont fuck up and become poster-boy metal, they could go either way

Sounding like Pantera

Post by Sunnie24 »

I don't thing anyone sounds like Pantera. I wouldn't compare them with anyone, especially not Avenged Sevenfold. They're alright, not nearly hard enough though. They're sure as shit not Pantera, I'll tell you that right now.

But since Iam still on AX&, what do you have to do to get a guitar player like that on your coffin when it's going into the ground. That was pretty cool. But U still think Ill stick to my 21 gun salute.

Their latest album, Strength Through Vengence, has a different lead singer than the one before it, and this new guy sounds really damn close to Phil on every song. Especially when he screams. Can't remember his name off the top of my head, but he's definitely the closest to Phil that I've heard.

There's a band called Orphaned To Hatred, that features Nick Menza.
These dudes describe their sound as ""a continuation of the heavy style of '90s PANTERA,".
There's a demo here:

Anyone who knew a fucking thing about music, guitars in general (and that guitar bitch shit you play on PS2 doesn't count, you fat fucking loser), would know Pantera sound shit like exhorder. Zomgorx! The two vocalists hit the same fucking note in one fucking song and Phil wuz seen in an Exhorder shirt!
