Re: Building a speaker cabinet

not sure, I thought I had read recently that Peavey started reissuing them again (models 1203-4 or 1203-8, for instrument applications)...Eminence speakers, to my experience, sound better with solid state amps, while Celestions and Peaveys usually are engineered for tube heads...the good thing abou...

Re: Building a speaker cabinet

get Peavey Black Widows, if you can find them, really punchy, with a lot of presence, no sludge at all, but don't oversize the cabinets, I think the larger Mesa cabinets don't sound all that great...porous frame (sides, top, back) woods absorb too much of the lower frequencies, so if you can build ...

Re: Building a speaker cabinet

I meant more along the lines of the speakers themselves. I'm considering building a 4x12 cab with 2 Eminence Governors and 2 Eminence Legends in an "X" configuration... Though I may just skip the whole bit and decide on an already built cab. I've considered a rig with a Vader 2x12 and an E...

Re: Do guitars and water mix?

I'm sure we all know throwing water on anything electrical isn't wise... but unless you submerge the guitar there's so little current actually running through it that while it MAY permanently damage the guitar, it's probably not going to electrocute you.

Re: LTD M-1000

A good guitar ain't going to be cheap Patty. I might be able to get the same guitar for less than $1000 if I can get a reasonable deal. A little steep for a first. Make sure you sit down with one. Dropping a couple grand on a guitar does jack shit if it isn't the sound you're looking for. After 15 ...

A Floyd is a pain in the ass, Jeb. If you're going to drop 1K dollars, there are better choices... for sure.

And I say that as someone who owns an ESP. I have an LTD EX400, and I'd bet anything it plays and sounds every bit as good as the M-1000.

I considered multi-effects processors, but there's a lot of stuff on those that I just won't get around to making use of. And I find that while I like certain effects on a certain unit, others on the same unit will be lacking for me. I'm pretty particular about my delays for as well, but I can't see...

Re: Anyone own any Chinese Gibson's ?

I've never touched a Chinese or Mexican guitar I liked, so it's my opinion that a Chinese Gibson knock off is probably a turd. And I have heard good things about Rondo Music, if you're in the market for something cost effective, although I've never played one of their guitars to know if I personally...

Building a speaker cabinet

Just looking for opinions here from those of you who strive for a specific sound in your guitar or bass playing. I'm considering buying an empty shell or building my own 4x12 cab and experimenting with speakers and different mixtures/configurations... If you were to build your own speaker cabinet, h...

Re: Buying this off of my co-worker for $400

I have two HM-2 pedals. Unless you have a noise suppressor and an EQ to put in a chain with it, I wouldn't recommend them. And Jeb, don't get a 7 string. Find a used Ibanez or ESP LTD model with 6 strings and NO locking trem system. Also, are you in a band? Do you need a 100W head and 4x12 cab? If ...

you're supposed to turn all the knobs up and play crust punk That's the reason I use a noise suppressor. The HM-2 only sounds "good" when it's all the way up all the way across... while you're playing that is. The second you stop... it's buzzing and feedback hell. Especially if you ...

The only external MIDI devices I use are a Lexicon USB Audio Interface and an 88 key M Audio USB MIDI controller, so I don't need any of those converter boxes.

If you have a keyboard you wanted to use as a controller that didn't have a USB out on it, those MIDI sport things come in handy.

I think there's definitely a right and wrong way to use a wah pedal, but it's actually pretty easy to pull off.
