Good stuff. What does he do? I just bought a matched pair of NT55s (the pencil condensers with the attenuation pad and bass roll off) for overheads, because the large condensers I have can barely handle loud drums. I'm hoping to get two M3s into the bargain, and if I don't like them I shoud be able ...

You will have to make adjustments. If you can't e bothered to do it properly/can afford it, take it to a tech. You're probably going to need extra springs in the back, or at least a change of tension to keep the bridge in check.

It's the same with the cheap dimebag guitars. The strap peg is on the side of the body instead of behind the neck which makes it impossible to play standing up.

Practice slow and build your speed up so that you can play fast without any tension. Otherwise you're asking for tendonitis

It must be bad times for a company making luxury guitars like PRS. They have a lot of competitors making guitars of equal quality for half the price, or less. They do look great though.

Modes sound so much more complicated than they are, the greek names and unmusical design of the guitar don't help. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diatonic_scale http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musical_mode The root note can be thought of like an anchor, giving you points of reference on the neck. It's not rare like a white rhino, but it is fairly uncommon. 95% of rock guitar necks must be maple, mahogany or rosewood..
