Buy more expensive and possibly shielded cables. Shorter cables, or a different length cable. Longer runs will pick up more RFI. Cheap guitar/amps/cables are just that, cheap.

I have 1 AT3035 and 1 SM57, 1 ART Tube Studio MP and a Delta 44 sound card. I have a few pieces of crappy outboard stuff but I won't ever use them. I plan to get more equipment soon.

Monitoring equipment could be as simple as a sound card, headphone amp and headphones. Say Delta 44 149$, Cheapie headphone amp 50$ and 80$ headphones. If you are recording and monitoring through a 16-bit stock sound blaster then good luck, you'll need it and a lot of magic to compete.

In Cubase, if you want to "master" your songs, you should set up a group of effects on the master bus and then save the settings for each plug as a preset and apply them to every song on your CD. Typical master bus plugs could be Multiband Compression (definitely needed on your mixes), rev...

I saw Queensryche last night. Geoff Tate is just amazing. He delivered 2.5 hours of clean heavy metal vocals. I've never heard live vocals from a metal band done as well as at the show last night. I don't even like Queensryche that much, but damn.

I'm trying to figure out why one would want to do that. I have used the preamp out of my Laney before to run directly to my old rack ADA poweramp. It never really sounded as good as just going through the Laney though.

I have experienced problems that just turn out to be bad cables or something easy. It's frustrating. At my bands gig last Friday the guitar player for the band that opened for us couldn't figure out why my speaker cab (they used our speaker cabs) would still distort when running a clean signal. The ...

Where you put something in the signal chain changes the way it effects & affects the sound. Typically, from the input of an amp, you'll go thru the pre-amp stage(s) and then the effects loop happens before the EQ section of the amp. Sometimes I've inserted EQ pre-effects loop to really slam the...

I like the intro clean chorus tone. A little lacking in top end as is your whole song. The mix is muddy and uninteresting. Vocals are difficult if not impossible to distinguish. The sampled drums are ridiculous, very low in the mix and sound like they are playing to different song (are those 16th no...

If one has the means to grab a tripple R, they should probably only be concerned with getting the best rack gear available. Marshall JMP1 or ADA MP1 preamps would probably sound killer.

That kind of wattage is probably what the band next door to us uses. If they are rehearsing, we might as well just turn our amps off because there is no fucking way.

I sing too, so at rehearsal I go > Shure SM58 > Behringer Europower PMH2000 > 80-watt optimus floor wedges. yay  The PMH is has pretty good digital effects built in, but I'd trade all of those mod/delay sounds for a built-in compressor.

I know a guy who will say, "that's not how I wrote it, it doesn't have the same feel" when I play some of his riffs. I continually want to punch him in the face for writing things that aren't in tune and on time. I think that if someone isn't technically proficient on their instrument then...
