Bassphemy! Get a Big Muff! It makes your bass sound like Godzilla getting a hysterectomy with a backhoe! I'll have to try one out. The Boss one I had was too much and I just ended up using it for a signal boost pedal after I got a MXR D.I. Pedal but the distortion on that one wasn't the best either.

Wow, that is too cool. A very Sleep/Steppenwolf kind of vibe to it. Any reason it won't work with active basses? I have a Warwick too and I'm not much for active basses anyway but it has a super high output on it.

I've never ever bought a distortion pedal for guitar. I've always just ran an EQ pedal through the effects loop and fiddled with the bands and its always sounded great. I'm not really a fan of the super distorted sound anyway. As far as distorted guitars go I like John Petrucci's old guitar sound an...

You could always hit up Craigslist and find something good used. Just make sure the neck is straight. Used instruments are always cooler than new ones in my opinion.

I played an OLP Music Man rip-off at Guitar Center a long time ago. It played really well, surprisingly. No idea how it would hold up over time but it played good at that point in time.

I do that sometimes too. I'll learn a passage and finally get it and not be able to play it in the context of the song its for for whatever reason. The tempo change or not being able to get into the mindset of the riff fast enough. I don't know. The only thing that helps me is playing the song over ...

Well who knows. Maybe you'll get all of your acoustic stuff out and then get sick of it and go back to metal. Or maybe you'll write some chord progressions that would make good metal riffs. Either way you're writing songs and becoming more comfortable doing it and becoming more confident that you ca...

I've only been satisfied recently with what I've been writing. Having the 6 string plugged in is the only way I can really write metal stuff by myself. Unless I'm in the practice space and am in metal-writing mode and have my bass will I write metal stuff on bass. If I'm by myself I'll end up writin...

No, that's the worst analogy I've ever heard. The guy can play. He can't write a song that isn't cheesy and horrible to save his life but he knows what he's doing. He writes songs about as good as Cooley does, however.

I think this is due to the fact that you are incapable of transmitting what you hear in your head through an instrument rather than you not enjoying performing and recording.
