neck position

when sitting down and practicing, i have a tendency to play the guitar at almost a horizontal angle; perhaps ~10 degrees above. i feel this helps me see what i'm doing better than the more angled 45 degree position one uses while standing. however, i know i'll have to get used to the other way to pl...

i'm sure many of you on here have been playing guitar for quite some time. i'm curious; what was the defining song, album, or band that consciously made you decide "i want to play guitar?" i'm sure pantera is an obvious influence for all of us, but for me, it was really listening to "...

i like it. i dig your sound. i'd probably listen to you if it was cleaned up a bit, and changed the vocals somehow. i dont see the vocals really fitting the music, nor do i like the faint screaming in the background, but that's just me.

good stuff though.

production / instrument changes

is the change in sound of dime's guitar between power metal and CFH a production thing or did he actually change the kind of guitar he played?

and along those lines, is that shrill, piercing sound when dime hits high notes on RTS just bad production? vinnie's snare also sounds a lot sharper.

this is coming from only a measly non-musician, but generally i think they sounded pretty good. better than most of the songs on Panther.

they may not have done everything right, but you can't say it sounds bad. unless you post clips of your pantera tribute band.

Re: ......

it would be kind of cool if phil, rex, and vinnie made a song dedicated to dime with no replacement guitarist. something really heartfelt and mellow, with a deep bass and slow tempo. the lack of guitar would really exemplify how important dime was to the band and why pantera can't exist without it....

that picture kills If there was some kind of Pantera reunion album, I think the best idea would be to get more than one fill in. at the very beginning of the live version of Suicide Note Pt. II, what is Phil saying?

this keeps me up at night.
