Most theory books are made to study along with a piano right? Well the piano is basically designed to western theory, so I think playing the piano would help you to understand theory. It's in C major, which has no sharps or flats, and its really simple to switch to all the different modes of that s...

Re: Music software torrents
Anyone have any? I don't want to pay money. I'm looking for ableton, logic, battery 3 or reaktor or whatever. This could be a get your free software thread :) If I recall you're in the Sac/Roseville area right? You can have my legit copy of Battery 3 if you want, I don't use it anymore. Yeah I am. ...

Vox 847A wah pedal
So I just picked one of these bad boys up, complete with its own complementary jockstrap. http://www.airportmusic.com/images/LargerPics/Vox_V847A_wah_complete.jpg Apparently it's their new version of the 848 Clyde McCoy series made popular by Hendrix and Clapton, the only modern feature being it has...

Are you just focusing on outside instruments? What type of music are you into playing now? I'm getting into sampling and arranging on the computer. Been playing more keyboards obviously as it controls computer instruments. I don't really know how to explain the type I'm playing. I'm just trying to ...

Seriously? Damn that's unbelievable. I sure don't listen to it  I don't think that recording was a very good representation of us, after all we were around for like 2 years after that album came out and never made another. That EP was children's songs compared to what we did later, which got wa...

I had an AC30. It was a fucking tank and loud as fuck. Great instrument, but I needed cash so flogged it. Yeah that was a big reason why I opted for the head and 2x12 cabinet version instead of the combo. Hauling two 30-40 pound boxes is less of a bother than one 70 or 80 pound box. If I ever get t...

Well the dude who was selling it had it listed at first for like 1150, and then when that auction ended he put it back up for 1050, then finally when he had it at 950 I just shot him an email asking him if he had the matching cabinet and if so, how much he would be willing to part with the pair. Yeah I'm the same way. I get bored way too easily with one instrument, and one sound, so the best approach for me to keep evolving is coming up with as many different textures and approaches as possible, and the Vox is a big partner in that, allowing me lots of exploration. Keep on explorin brotha. ...

Yeah and remember if it is in 7/4 the measure takes longer to complete because a measure would be consisting of 7 quarter notes. If it was 7/8 you'd be counting it faster as it's counting in 8th notes. And it's also good to note that the odd time signatures start again on the upbeat, it's like a fli...

Not sure about those particular models but I've played some nice Fenders. I definitely dug it, but ever since I got that Vox, nothing else sounds as articulate to me. I found an amazing deal on this last summer and got this. Vox =   . Honestly the cleanest, chimiest, clearest, and at the same time snarling, sizzling and powerful amp I've ever played. This thing is its own fucking instrument. http://www.yamahamusic.com.au/products/musicalinstrument...

It's the top boost model with six inputs. It sounds absolutely amazing - I can't really vouch for the reliability because it's second hand. I have really pushed it since getting it retubed (reamping for hours at maximum volume) and it seems to be holding up fine. They do tend to hum quite loud thou...

Solid state amps breaking is reallly adding insult to injury  Like kellan said, it could be a plug fuse. It could also be a weak solder/pcb joint that's melted or been snapped, or a shitload of other things. I wold feel sorry for you, but i spent almost $400 getting my AC30 repaired this spr...

Jimmy Page rules. Anything he'd want to play in whatever style he does is badass. That's why I love Led Zeppelin, diverse as shit. And I don't consider them metal either. They contributed to it in certain aspects, but they weren't a heavy metal band. Their music was too all over the map stylisticall...

I love that sound. Like on Led Zeppelin's No Quarter or Echoes by Pink Floyd, even though the Leslie rotary sound is being used on a keyboard not a guitar. Thanks for the advice. As far as the 5150 goes, I usually use the distortion between 3 and 4 because when I go up higher the distortion gets less clear and more muddy/bassy, and it has way more distortion than I'll ever need. So I'm not looking for a crazy distorted metal tone in particular, I'm mor...

At the same time, learn natural major and pentatonic major. Once you see how the major and minor scales are related up and down the neck, it wil...

So the tubes in my 5150 are about 4 years old and the tone is nowhere near what it was. I don't really know shit about tubes, but it's apparent I need to put in all new ones. I was trying to find some reviews on what tubes are good but I'm not getting much luck. Who here can give me some good inform...
