Re: Guitar amps

Jeb, if you are going Vox, get an AC15. My friend has an AC30 and it's almost too much power. They both sound gorgeous, though.

Re: Soundgarden

Just got back. They sounded heavy as fuck, especially for an outdoor venue. Chris sounded amazing, like you said.. I can't imagine them sounding better even in the 90s. Got some songs I haven't seen much of so far on this tour.. Mailman, Pretty Noose, Let Me Drown, Burden in My Hand, Superunkown :aa...

With the way that guy has his Tele setup, it might as well be any other guitar.

Also, any musician who considers himself better than another is missing the point. Even if there was an objective way to make that assertion, it's nothing more than masturbation.

Re: Line 6 or Marshall amps?

I don't think any skill level should be necessary to go out and buy higher end gear, if it happens to be a piece of equipment that sounds good to your ears. I do think a lot of musicians fall into the bigger-is-better mentality when it comes to these $1000+ dollar heads or ridiculously expensive gui...

Re: Line 6 or Marshall amps?

You could say that about anyone that buys high-end gear. Everyone might as well buy budget gear because most will not be coming out with a groundbreaking album. It's smart to look ahead and buy something that you will still enjoy 5 years from now when you progress as a musician, rather that buy some...

Yeah, after going tube, there's no looking back.

For metal though, I guess some solid state stacks are passable.

Re: Interested in buying a Fender Strat.

Yeah, every Squier I've picked up has played/sounded great. The Classic Vibe series especially. I'd have no problem using one of those as a main guitar. Don't be scared off by the brand name or even by regular Fenders that are made in Mexico. Just find one that's comfortable. Pretty much any Fender ...

Between that Schecter and a build-a-Tele, I'd go with the Tele. I've been pretty torn between an Epi Riviera and a Lake Placid Blue Strat lately as my next guitar.

In another thread people were talking about how Eddie Van Halen would sound like himself through any setup and I think it's true. Who gives a shit what something costs, if it inspires y...

I can understand collecting guitars for the sake of collecting them, but 3 grand on one piece of musical equipment seems a bit much. Different strokes I guess. If I had 3 grand to blow I'd have a whole new setup.

Yeah, I value how an amp sounds slightly more than the actual guitar I think, although I'm not an advocate of skimping on either. I tend to build my tone starting from a good clean tube sound, then model my tone with pedals.
