going for gojira and (a hopefully redeemed) machine head. i'll have to stick around for lamb of god though, because the guy i'm rolling with wants to see them. i guess trivium will be an opportunity to get fucked up, or chill out, or whatever.

i think that, in general, having a solid grasp on how to play any instrument makes learning another easier. there's something to be said for already understanding time signatures, dynamics, chords, scales, and all that fundamental stuff, and just applying it to another instrument, instead of startin...

it's a nice venue. relatively new. they seem to keep it in good shape. it's got a big floor, and balcony seating up above. the back of the floor area has a lot of tables with bars set up on the sides.

and the sound from that neurosis sound is just a sample played through a synth. i'm not sure where the original sound came from.

he plugs a couple of pre-amps straight into the soundboard. solid state pre-amps. so instead having having a microphone pointing at a speaker cabinet, he basically plugs his guitar into a distortion pedal, and plugs that into the recording device.

i'd say just abolish it.

i've played to crowds of around 500 people where the bass player never had to turn is 500 watt unit all the way up. 1000 really isn't needed, unless it's a really pussy 1000 watts.

are you sure it isn't the sound of the string periodically clacking against a pickup?
