man, you really need to hit up youtube to find live recordings from these power metal bands. on one extreme, it's completely hilarious. then you realize that some people are washing dishes at bennigan's to perpetuate the lifestyle of buying cd's from these people, then buying into the image, then th...

the only thing i even have in the works right now is a live hip hop band. maybe not a band, just kind of a project. there's a group that performs around here that's actually really good, and i've been talking to them at parties here and there. something about getting a bass player, some drums, keys,...

i think that, in general, having a solid grasp on how to play any instrument makes learning another easier. there's something to be said for already understanding time signatures, dynamics, chords, scales, and all that fundamental stuff, and just applying it to another instrument, instead of startin...

it's a nice venue. relatively new. they seem to keep it in good shape. it's got a big floor, and balcony seating up above. the back of the floor area has a lot of tables with bars set up on the sides.

he also plays on 'a moment of clarity.' i think he contributed some other riffs as well. however, it's also true that satyr took a lot of inspiration from snorre/thorns at that point in time, which ultimately culminated in them working together.

and the sound from that neurosis sound is just a sample played through a synth. i'm not sure where the original sound came from.

he plugs a couple of pre-amps straight into the soundboard. solid state pre-amps. so instead having having a microphone pointing at a speaker cabinet, he basically plugs his guitar into a distortion pedal, and plugs that into the recording device.

there's a type of warmth associated with tubes. you can also get a neat sounding overdrive with tube amps. it can be simulated with effects though. 300 watts is technically 300 watts, but in a solid state amp, you aren't going to want to run the thing full out. there's a nasty thing called sqaure wa...

i've played to crowds of around 500 people where the bass player never had to turn is 500 watt unit all the way up. 1000 really isn't needed, unless it's a really pussy 1000 watts.

what kind of tones are you primarily going for? are you looking for a particular type of sound, or something that's adaptable to most ot all situations? what's your price range?
